Welcome to Last Door, a pioneering addiction recovery center dedicated to helping youth and adult males aged 13 to 30 overcome addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. Our comprehensive range of services includes private medical detox, residential recovery programs, and unique family focus enhancement programs designed to support partners, parents, grandparents, and siblings in the recovery process.
Our goal at Last Door is to build a strong and vibrant recovery community, making us known as the “Recovery Capital of Canada.” Located in New Westminster, BC, our facility offers a highly structured and engaging environment that views each individual as a whole, adopting the Health-Care Movement’s concept of Building Recovery Capital. We combine this approach with the innovative use of My Recovery Plan Software, allowing us to monitor and measure each client’s progress during post-treatment. Through weekly assessments and goal reviews, we identify and build on our clients’ strengths, tailoring our services to meet their unique needs.
The average stay at Last Door typically ranges from 3 to 5 months, providing ample time for individuals to immerse themselves in our supportive community. Many of our residents also have the option to access our long-term transitional living program, which can extend up to one year. Throughout their journey, clients develop strong peer support and camaraderie, and practical life skills are imparted, fostering a sense of responsibility and daily activity.
Our therapeutic groups explore a wide range of themes essential to the recovery process, including loss, grief, self-esteem, communication, stress management, anger, leisure and recreation, relationships, and anxiety management. Family work and discharge planning are also integral components of our program, ensuring that our clients receive the comprehensive care needed to thrive in recovery.
Our facilities offer a comforting and home-like setting in an urban area, with clients residing in cozy homes. Initially, accommodations may be shared, but as clients progress through the program, they are transitioned into private bedrooms. Cozy common areas with comfortable couches and entertainment options further promote a sense of belonging and comfort.
In addition to our urban location, Last Door offers weekly retreats to our Keystone Facility, situated on a serene 50-acre rural property just one hour outside of Vancouver. At Keystone, clients engage in horticultural therapy, recreational therapy, and wilderness therapy, fostering a deeper connection with nature and the healing power it offers.
At Last Door, we are committed to revolutionizing addiction recovery for young adults and their families. Our compassionate and effective approach, combined with our strong recovery community and innovative programs, creates a transformative experience that leads to lasting recovery and improved mental well-being.
